USCIS today announced (pre-announced?) preliminary guidance on the process by which DREAM Act eligible applicants will apply for deferred action.  While the guidance is not yet final, it does provide a couple of clues to the procedure.  One, the deferred action request and the work permit application will both be submitted at the same time along with the required fees.  While not yet confirmed, I have heard that the fee, at least for the work permit, will be $465.00.

Two, a specific form is being developed by USCIS to cover this type of application.

Three, final guidance will be provided on August 15 and USCIS will immediately thereafter begin accepting applications.

Looks like August 15 will be a very busy day.
